People lift for all kinds of reasons. What I love about Forge is that the members of this ecosystem support each other in our varied flight paths to becoming stronger humans. I walked into a gym for the first time two years ago, which coincided with the point when I started taking my mental health more seriously. Although I initially had major gym-timidation, I discovered how much lifting helps me feel at home in my own skin. I’m grateful to Robin and Lindsey for their brilliant coaching. As a plant-powered runner, cyclist, and kayaker, I lift weights so I can, with any luck, savour time in nature well into my golden years. Beyond the gym, strength training has given me the courage to play with risk and discomfort, apply wise effort, and give myself some grace when I flop.
